TEN FE IN THE AIR

We've had an eye on Londoners TEN FÉ for a while now, an interest which started when they were known as just Fé back in 2013. They were impressive then - particularly their pulsating first offering, 'Time' - but they soon disappeared off the radar, only to pop back up with a way more refined sound this year on 'Make Me Better'. Ben Moorhouse and Leo Duncan are now shifting up another gear with 'In The Air', a track taken from the same sessions with Jagwar Ma and M83 producer Ewan Pearson that birthed 'Make Me Better'. We pointed to a Verve-ish confidence and swagger on their comeback track, but 'In The Air' is a little different; more driven, more danceable, maybe even a little krauty, with its nagging guitar riffs and luxe electronic swells. It's often a worry when a new(ish) band takes time out to recalibrate, but in TEN FÉ's case, that looks like a masterstroke. - DC
